Velma Felecia Lowery

Velma Felecia Lowery was born August 6, 1959, to the late Samuel Meece Cathey and Ella Bell Anderson Cathey in the Fort Cooper Community of Primm Springs, TN in Hickman County where she received her formal education and graduated from Hickman County High School. Velma (called Felecia by most people) was lovingly called by the family the “cooking mechanic” and she used her talent when she became employed by Quick Mart #14 as their Master Baker. For some time we only heard the names, Felecia and Vance, as she wrapped him in her mother's love until she was united in marriage to Wayne Lowery (known as PaPa Coon). To the union two daughters were added (the late Valerie Lowery) and Telecia Lowery. Velma was devoted to her family and friends alike and was the organizer of most get-togethers and trips at the drop of a hat. For many years she organized the annual family and friends Tennessee Rivery Camping Trip, Gatlinburg trips, and recently the Webb, Anderson, Scott, Cummins, etc. family days. The friendship with many in the Maury County area especially East Valley was outstanding and she was well known by anyone down on their luck who might just need a meal or a babysitter. On Sunday, November 27th, 2022 she answered the call to leave everything her hands had found to do to enter into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her daughter Valerie Lowery, her husband Wayne Lowery, Father Samuel Meece Cathey, Grandmother Alice Gertrude Fowlkes, Mother-In-Law Nannie Jo Lowery, many close Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends. Velma Felecia’s memory will be held dear by her daughter Telecia Lowery and Son Vance (Sabrina) Martin. Because she shared a strong, big heart Felecia shared her love with three special young ladies that she called her own: Danisha, Anisha, and Markeshia Cofer. Remembering special times with their granny was Ahqzeea, Sa‘Tya, Zyi’Kerria, Za’Vaah, Ahkyssimee, Landon, Lathan, Arrianna, A’meerion, A’mayah, Ge”Marius, Ze’Karriah, and Terry. Loving and holding her in their hearts also is her mother Ella Bell Cathey, Step-Mother Ida Sue Cathey, six brothers Juanest (Eartha) Cathey, Avery Patrick Cathey, Artis Cathey, Marcus (Sarah) Cathey, Carvis Cathey, and Vince Cathey. Sister Cousins: Gloria Pillow and Ira Booker. Sister-In-Law Felecia (Lynn) Lowery and Brother-In-Law Charles (Darlene) Lowery. Special Aunts Jannice (Kelton) Daniel and Mary Anderson. Special extended family and a host of other Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and friends, including Greg, Donna, Shorty, and La’Quisha.
