Anthony Douglas Dansby

Anthony Douglas Dansby Sr., affectionately known to many as "Ant," passed away leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and community. Anthony was born on July 12, 1968, to the late Joe Dansby and Lillian Dansby Slaughter. He attended Davidson County Public Schools, where he built lifelong friendships and developed the strong work ethic that would define his life. He began his career at Bruce Hardwood Floors, where he worked for several years before discovering his true passion for driving tractor trailers. Anthony's dedication to the trucking industry led him to work for BTT, where he earned the respect of his colleagues through his professionalism and determination. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a vision of his own, he later founded Dansby Trucking, a business that reflected his commitment to excellence, independence, and providing for his family. On April 15, 2018, Anthony married the love of his life, Geneva McGee. Together they would continue to operate their business, Dansby Trucking. Geneva would handle all the administrative tasks while Anthony drove the truck. One of his favorite companies to drive for was Feed America First. Anthony was not simply a driver for Feed America, he was family. Anthony was a man of deep faith. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Park Avenue Baptist Church. He later became a member of Greater Zion Primitive Baptist Church before continuing his worship and service at The Temple Church, where he worked faithfully until his passing. His love for God was evident in the way he lived, cared for others, and remained devoted to his family. Known throughout the community for his kind heart, infectious smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand, Anthony was truly a pillar of the community. Whether through his work or his everyday interactions, he touched countless lives and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Joe Dansby. Anthony's greatest joy was his family. He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his devoted and loving wife, Geneva Dansby; his three sons, Marquel Dansby, Chris (Tess) Dansby, and Anthony "AJ" Dansby Jr. His mother, Lillian Dansby Slaughter; his sisters, Joy (Otis) Morton, Teresa Dansby, and Darlene Newsome; his brothers, Joe Louis (Shirley) Dansby Jr., John Paul (Carnetta) Dansby, and Joe Evans, his stepchildren his mother-in-law Sheteka Dunlap and his sister-in laws. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins extended family members, lifelong friends, and all whose lives were enriched by his presence. Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Anthony's legacy of faith, perseverance, love, and service will continue to live on through the family he cherished, the community he strengthened, and the countless memories he created. His life was a testament to what it means to love deeply, work diligently, and serve faithfully. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
