Charles Edward Worley Sr.

Charles Edward Worley, Sr., of Centerville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in the care of Alive Hospice in Nashville on July 10, 2026, at the age of 96. Mr. Worley was born on April 4, 1930, in the Little Lot community of Hickman County to the late John Olif (J.O.) Worley and Mary Adell Yates Worley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine Bates, and his brother, Malcolm "Mac" Worley. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of many years, Martha Ann Sisco Worley; his sons, Charles Edward Worley, Jr. (Tammy Carroll) and Mark Worley (Kristy Jenkins); his granddaughter, Taylor Jones (Chris); his cherished great-grandsons, Clark and Creed; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Worley was a respected businessman and prominent member of the Centerville community, dedicating more than six decades to serving the automotive needs of Hickman County and the surrounding area. In 1954, he entered into business with James Tarkington, selling farm equipment, used automobiles, and other merchandise. That partnership became known as T&W Motors. After Mr. Tarkington sold his interest in the business, Charles' brother, Malcolm "Mac" Worley, joined him as a partner. As the business evolved, T&W Motors shifted its focus primarily to the sale of quality used automobiles. Mr. Worley later constructed a modern dealership on Highway 50 in Centerville, featuring a state-of-the-art showroom and a six-bay service department where customers could also purchase tires and receive dependable automotive service. In 1961, he was awarded the Lincoln-Mercury franchise, marking an important milestone in the dealership's history. Around 1976, when Mac chose to pursue other opportunities, Charles became the sole owner of T&W Motors. Through his dedication and hard work, he later secured the Ford franchise, allowing the dealership to become one of the area's most trusted sources for both new and pre-owned vehicles. Outside of work, Mr. Worley enjoyed offshore fishing with his buddies, kept up with all of NASCAR, and most importantly never missed an episode of the Price Is Right. After 65 years in the automobile business, Mr. Worley retired, leaving behind a legacy built on integrity, hard work, and exceptional customer service. For generations of families throughout Hickman County and neighboring communities, T&W Motors was more than a dealership—it was a place where lasting relationships were formed, trust was earned, and neighbors were treated like family. His contributions to the local business community and the friendships he cultivated throughout his lifetime will be remembered for years to come.
