Eleanor Loraine Collins

Eleanor Loraine, “Nannie”, Collins, Lyles, Tennessee, was born on October 14, 1919 in Nunnelly, Tennessee and went to meet her Lord on May 5, 2017. She was the eldest of six children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harville and Anna Jane Dorton; brothers, Robert Lee, James “Peck”, Joe, and sister, Margie Underhill. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Willie Collins. She is survived by sister, Dorothy Allen of Bon Aqua, Tennessee. Children are Tony (Shirley) Collins, Lyles and daughter, Derenda (Tommy) Hodge, Nashville. She has three grandchildren, Todd (Missy) Collins, Centerville, Chris (Lori) Collins, Dickson, and Melanie (Jake) Morris, Nashville. She has five great grandchildren, Cailey, Caleb, Max, Mary Adeline, and Brett. Lorraine worked many years for the Hickman County School system, but her joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known as the Matriarch of the family for many years. For many years, the family enjoyed Sunday lunch at Nannie & PaPa’s where there was always a table full of food that was prepared totally by Nannie, including her homemade rolls. Everyone in the community loved her and knew her as a servant of the LORD through her acts of kindness by helping anyone in need who needed a meal or a helping hand. She was a founding member of the Clearview Church of Christ and attended faithfully until her health declined over the last year. She was blessed to live in her home independently after her husband’s death for nine years. Then when her health to started decline, she was able to remain in her home until her death because of the loving and devoted care of her long time physician, Dr. Richard Hock, Vanderbilt; Caregivers: Betty, Cailey, Janie, Juanita, Lisa, Nelda, and Paula, along with the nurses and staff of Caris Hospice, Dickson. There are many, many precious memories to sustain this family until we are united in Heaven for eternity. Thank you dear LORD for blessing this family with such loving and caring parents, grandparents, and an Auntie and Unckie who sacrificed and gave so much. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, May 6, 4-8 pm at McDonald Funeral Home, Centerville, Tn., and the funeral will be Sunday, May 7, 1:30pm, at McDonald Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Clearview Church of Christ Youth Fund, Lyles, Tennessee.
