James (JT) Tate Wright

James Tate (JT) Wright, a beloved husband to the love of his life, Linda Faye Wright, and father, to Nickey Wright (Tracy), and Angie Beard (Tracy), grandfather to Nicole Wright, Tabitha (Beard) Cude (Gaylon), Kelsey (Wright) Pierce (Drew), Miranda (Beard) Morris (Ryan), Blane Wright (Chelsea), and John Hunter Wright, and great-grandfather to Sutherlyn Cude, Brooks Cude, Lyla Morris, Sutton Pierce, Berkley Wright, Emmy Morris, Sawyer Pierce, and the upcoming Ella Jane Wright, brother and friend to many passed away on July 6, 2026 at the age of 86. Born in Hickman Co., TN on November 18, 1939. JT, as everyone called him, was larger than life. He always let you know how proud he was of his family and how much he loved his wife, Linda. JT, who worked for 18 years at Consolidated Aluminum, raised their family in Coble. They were raised swimming in Beaverdam Creek and camping on the Duck River. As their kids got older, JT and Linda opened Fish Camp Restaurant in Centerville, where he enjoyed meeting and talking with so many people, bringing together his love for good food, working with his family, meeting new people, his friends, and the TN river. Between working, he made sure to find plenty of time to vacation with his family and friends, which he shared are some of his best memories. Along the way, JT also opened two more businesses, Mr. T’s One Stop, which he sold to Angie and Tracy Beard, and Wright’s Wood and Metal, where he worked with both Nickey and Mark before Mark Wright took over the business as a custom cabinet maker. Upon retirement, JT was proud to sell Fish Camp to his nephew Troy Bates and travel more with Linda, his friends, and his family. In his later years, you would find him at his house on Crooked Creek fishing, cooking for his family and friends, gardening, working on boats, and buying and selling things. His river family became his family, and he was so proud to call Crooked Creek his home, sharing it with his family and friends. JT is survived by his wife, Linda, his children, Nickey and Angie, and their spouses, six grandchildren and their spouses, seven great grandchildren, with another on the way, and so many beloved friends that he considered family, especially his neighbors on Crooked Creek who cared for him and Linda so well. JT is preceded in death by his parents Grady Wright and Lettie Wright Sisk, sister Marie Wright Bates, and his beloved son Mark Wright.
