Norma Jean Copley

Norma Copley, age 86, peacefully passed away on July 23, 2026, at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Norma was born in Lyles, Tennessee, to James and Susie Warf. She graduated from Hickman County High School, where she met the love of her life, Sonny Copley. Their love story began when Sonny shared a seat with Norma on the school bus, and from that moment, a lifelong love grew. The two shared a beautiful marriage for 65 years, building a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to one another. Norma worked as an accounting clerk for BellSouth in Atlanta, Georgia, where she retired after many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of East Cobb Church of Christ and lived her life with a deep love for the Lord and others. Norma found joy in the simple moments of life. She deeply loved the beach and often shared that some of her greatest memories were the trips spent there with her son, Kevin, and his children. She enjoyed sitting outside, eating cheeseburgers at Chili’s, doing her nails, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with the people she loved. Above all else, Norma loved her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Tammy Chittom (Pat Chittom), and her son, the late Kevin Copley (Beth Copley). She often said that some of the best days of her life were spent watching Kevin play sports. She found so much joy in being a mother and watching her children grow. Being a grandmother was one of Norma’s greatest joys. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and loved creating special memories with them. Nonna always hosted family holiday gatherings, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and memories that her family will cherish forever. She and Sonny were always present for school events and sports activities, taking an active role in their grandchildren’s lives. They especially loved watching their grandchildren play sports and cheering them on through all of their accomplishments. Her love for her grandchildren was unconditional, and her presence will be deeply missed. Norma is survived by her loving daughter, Tammy Chittom (Pat Chittom); her sister, Peggy Sue Young (Paul); her nephew, Paul Young (Kim); her grandchildren, Brandon Chittom (Susan), Jason Chittom (Sam), Jeremy Chittom, Bryson Copley, Ella Copley, and Emma Copley (Cody Kersey); her five great-grandchildren; as well as many beloved extended family members and dear friends. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, James and Susie Warf; her beloved husband of 65 years, Sonny Copley; and her son, Kevin Copley (Beth Copley). Visitation will be held on Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Littlelot Cemetery. Norma will be remembered for her loving heart, her unwavering faith, her kindness toward others, and most of all, her deep love for her family. While her family mourns her passing, they find comfort knowing that she was joyfully welcomed into eternity by two people who were waiting for her—her beloved husband, Sonny, and her son, Kevin. We rejoice knowing they are together again.
