Billy D Shields

On the morning of Tuesday April 17, 2018, God put forth his effort to smile on him and thereby with chilly fingers; the comforter sealed the lips of William D. Shields forever. His soul came to rest at his home surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Billy D. Shields was born November 25, 1938, to the late Willie B. and Victoria O. Mayes Shields in Waverly, Tennessee. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. He was United at Hopewell P.B Church where he served as a faithful Deacon until his health failed. He was a member of Fellowship Grand Masonic Lodge and was a thirty-three degree. He was employed at Lewis Production DANA-Eaton corporation for 38 years where he especially enjoyed his time working with Special Co-Workers, James “Buck” Owens and Dennis King. After his 38 years of service to the corporation, he retired. He also became an electronic technician. William D. (Billy) married Geneva Robinson in 1964. A new start! They were married for 54 years. From this union were two daughters and a son. Billy was a dedicated family man who was dearly loved by his family as well as his friends. One of his favorite hobbies was to spend time playing with his Great Grandchildren and eating peanuts! Saddened by his death and left to cherish his memory: His loving and devoted wife Geneva L. Shields of Hohenwald, TN, Sister Wilma Quirin (husband Jim) of Nashville, TN, Sister Edna Page of Nashville, TN, Sister Reba Gray of Indianapolis, IN, Sister Wanda Graves (husband Pony L.) of Nashville, TN, Sister Patricia Taylor of Nashville, TN, Brother Larry Shields (wife Ollie) of Pamona, CA, Brother Kenneth Shields of Nashville, TN, Brother-In-Law Elmer Robinson of South Bend, IN, Brother-In-Law Henry Robinson (wife Chong) of Baltimore, MA, Brother-In-Law Billy Robinson of Centerville, TN, Grandchildren: Christopher Hudson of Hohenwald, TN, Cherelle Hudson of Hohenwald, TN, Amber Ash of Memphis, TN, Victoria Shields of Dickson, TN, Jacoa Shields of Dickson, TN, Isaiah Bernal of Hermitage, TN. 7 Great Grandchildren and 5 Step Great Grandchildren. In addition to Aunts and Uncles, Billy also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well as devoted nephew Perry Tony Robinson of Centerville, TN, devoted nephew Eric Robinson of Nashville, TN, devoted cousin Shelia Coleman of Waverly, TN, Very Special Friend Dexter Johnson of Hohenwald, TN, and Very Special Friend Elaine Reeves also of Hohenwald, TN. Mr. Shields was preceded in death by: His mother Victoria and Father Willie Shields, Daughter Ewaynia Shields, Brother Bobby Shields, Brother-In-Law Linsey Page. Services were held on Saturday April 21, 2018 at McDonald Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with Elder Walter L. Hall officiating. His body was then laid to rest at Swiss Cemetery in Hohenwald. The family of the late Deacon Billy D. Shields expresses sincere gratitude for all acts of kindness shown to our family at the passing of our loved one.
