Elsie Lee Rochelle passed from this life on November 17, 2020 in Hohenwald. She was born May 2, 1926 in Kimmins, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Joseph Duncan Riley and Sophia Levisa O’Guin. Elsie was the youngest of seven children. She married Herbert Charles Rochelle, on December 24, 1942 and they were married for 59 years before his death in 2002. During World War II, Elsie and Herbert moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee for work. They were part of the workforce there that became known as The Secret City that built the atomic bomb. After the war ended, they moved back to Hohenwald. Elsie retired from The South Central Human Resources Agency as a dietary aide. Elsie enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and was a lover of animals. The Bible was a favorite of Elsie’s to read as she would always have it close by her side. She was a compassionate and loving woman who cared deeply for her family, friends, and all those she knew. Her 94 years on this earth were a blessing to all those around her, and she will be greatly missed. Elsie is survived by two sons: Mike Rochelle and wife, Delores and David Rochelle and wife, Lorenda; three grandchildren: Starlene Lowe, Sharlene Rochelle and Nathaniel Rochelle; and two great grandchildren: Jordan and Hannah Lowe. Graveside services will conducted on Thursday beginning at 1:00 PM in the Swiss Cemetery with Glen Floyd officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 12:00 - 12:45 at the McDonald Funeral Home. The family requests all those in attendance at the graveside and visitation to please wear a mask and socially distance when possible.
