Woodrow Ross

April 30, 1936 - April 24, 2022

Mr. Woodrow Ross left this earthly world for his heavenly home on Sunday, April 24 at the age of 85. He was born on April 30, 1936 in Shelby County, Tennessee to the late Emmett Winford Ross, Sr. and Effie Valmer (Reed) Ross. Mr. Woodrow grew up working on the farm and in the saw mill; it was his childhood that instilled a work ethic that would last a lifetime. He began his career at Coale Lumber Company in Millington. After moving to Hohenwald, he spent close to 20 years at DANA, he went to work as a maintenance man at the post office and he continued to work there until he was 80 years old. He loved to be outside and work in his yard whenever he was able. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Mr. Ross was most importantly a child of God. He loved to tell people about and sing about Jesus. He was a member of Straightway Christian Center in Columbia. Mr. Ross leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 63 years, Maybelle (Greenhaw) Ross; son, Timothy Woodrow Ross; daughters, Annie Paulette Rone (Ken Gauthier), Linda Carniece (John Dale) Zimmerman, and Vickie Kay (Randy) Foster; brothers, Thomas Ross and Roy David (Sharon) Ross; grandchildren, Misty Autumn Rone, Jonathan "Matt" Rone, Amber Ranee (Shannon) Hensley, Emily Magan (Branden) Davis, Heather Catherine Bell, and Joshua (Veronica) Bell; great-grandchildren, Ethan (Brooklyn) Staggs, Versavia Audrey Rone, Cooper Dale Edwards, Gatlin Bell, Braigen Lyn Davis, Ellie Bell Davis, and Adrienne Rone; sister-in-law, Janice Ross; a special family friend, Malissa Himes and many very special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Emmanuel David Ross; brothers, Emmett "Elmer" Winford Ross, Jr., Benford Earl Ross, and Alanders Ross; sisters, Mable Whitehead and Norma Lee "sister" Beckham.
