David Edward Baker III

David “Davy” Edward Baker III, age 50, of Williamsport, Tennessee, passed away at his farm in Shady Grove surrounded by those who loved him on June 20, 2026. He was born on July 5, 1975, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Paulette McCoy Baker and the late David Edward Baker, Jr. Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Marley Denise Baker, mother, Paulette McCoy Baker, sisters, Lisa (Kurt) Hellmann, Beth Baker (Tommie Wynn), niece, Loren (Daniel) Roberts, nephew, Kole Hellmann and many close friends who loved him dearly. Davy loved caring for his farm animals and his dog Ava, who never left his side. Growing up in Centerville, Tennessee, Davy’s childhood was spent playing sports and hanging out with friends known as the “Skyview Gang”. His summers consisted of playing Dixie Youth baseball, swimming and hanging out at the Skyview Country Club. He played basketball for Hickman County Middle and High School and was a member of the Class of 1993. Davy lived a life defined by hard work. He took immense pride in his profession as a supervisor at Nashville Electric Service. His career in line work goes back 30 years to Osborne Electric, Pike, P&E and Davis H. Elliott before employment at NES. In addition to his work ethic, his love for farming and raising cattle was his true passion...a passion that he loved sharing with his daughter, Marley. As a young adult, Davy found joy on his grandparents’ farm along the Duck River. What began as cherished time spent with family eventually became his own labor of love when he took over the farm. Raising cattle provided an escape from the long hours and demands of his career, and he took immense pride in caring for the land that meant so much to him. While he deeply valued the farm’s history and heritage, he found great comfort in knowing its future would continue through his daughter. Seeing Marley embrace life on the farm as its fifth generation brought him tremendous pride and peace, and her involvement helped secure the farm being held by the family for over a century, ensuring its legacy for generations to come. Beyond his professional life, Davy was known for his quick wit and his effortless ability to make people laugh. He brought an unforgettable charm to everyone he met. Davy had a competitive nature and enjoyed “winning” games of all kinds. Especially on a slot machine. He could out cook you on the grill and out do anyone with his dance moves. Davy leaves behind a legacy he built through hard work, loyalty, and love. He will be remembered for his strength and determination, fun loving personality, being a loyal friend, but most importantly being a dedicated father. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Duck River Conservancy, Shady Grove Community Center, or the American Cancer Society.
